VIP LADIES NIGHT

Wednesday August 26, 2009 was the first annual Dick & Jane "VIP LADIES NIGHT", and what a night it was! From 5pm until 8pm the boutique was closed for a private party that hosted well over 100 fabulous women from the boutique's VIP Club List (subscribe here).
This special evening included a Rotating Costume Fashion Show, Raffle Draws, Free Gifts, Chocolate Dipped Strawberries & Champagne for Every Guest, An Educational Guide on Dick & Jane's Sexual Wellness Product Selection and of course 50% Off Lingerie & Apparel, Lotions, Sex Toys, Games, Books & More.
It was brilliant to see so many incredible women under the same roof - you are the reason we are here - your pleasure is our business and we strive to ensure you get only the best of the best when it comes to our service and selection!
A big warm thank you to everyone for joining us and making our first ANNUAL Ladies Night a huge success, we couldn't have done it without you!
RICHMOND HILL "HERITAGE VILLAGE FESTIVAL" THE OLD & THE NEW

Saturday June 13th marked the 18th Annual Richmond Hill Heritage Festival. The event celebrates the history and heritage of the town by closing down Yonge Street in the centre of Old Richmond Hill so that families and friends can take advantage of the many wonderful cafes, shops & services that this "town with heart" has to offer. The street festival hosts an array of Artisans & Crafters, Cuisines from all over the World and Entertainment including live music & dance, horse & wagon rides and of course what's a festival without a parade?!
With the addition of trendy new cafes & boutiques and new residents moving in, the area is not only expanding, it's attracting people from all demographics. How does the expression go? "A little norther a little nicer?" As boomers retire and their off-spring look towards starting their own families - Richmond Hill appears to be a place of choice for both. I look forward to seeing future "Village Festivals" revolutionize to accommodate the diversity that makes up these exciting times! The possibilities are endless - we have to consider "the old & the new". Not quite knowing how the boutique would be received on this ‘family day’, I took a chance by opening in 2008 for the event.I was overwhelmed when we had a record breaking day.The community welcomed Dick & Jane with open arms.The store was filled with people ranging from 18-85, all curious to know what the buzz of the then only 4 months young boutique was all about. Now, one year later, and after 16 months of serving the community - these same people (now like family to us) continue to show their support often with a friend or family member in tow. It was mind-blowing, this year we had twice the number of customers as last!
From inception I wanted to ensure that the boutique would bring people closer, it makes me extremely happy to know its happening. One couple came in on Heritage Day to announce that they had become engaged the weekend before & wanted to thank us for helping them create a very special evening, one without a doubt will be remembered for years to come. Another Dick & Janer, came in with her 7 day old baby boy and joked, “Clearly your lingerie worked”.How great is that?!These are the moments that bring tears to my eyes.
I believe that our customers are the “miracle grow” that nourish the seeds we plant, every business owner must recognize this.With the economy being as fragile as it currently is, we must be thankful for each new customer we receive and even more thankful for the existing ones who have helped us grow from the roots up! I am blessed to have a dynamic staff that embrace this philosophy to ensure that every customer is their top priority when they visit the boutique. A big thank you to Arts Richmond Hill for organizing such a wonderful event year after year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DICK & JANE

It was one year ago today that Dick & Jane Romance Boutique opened the doors to store # 1 in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
"Time Flies when you're having fun!" notes store owner, Mercedes Jones. "It's easy to come to work when you love what you do. I get to meet the most awesome people every day, our customers are definately what makes it all worthwhile".
With a goal to bring LOVE, ROMANCE and PASSION back into daily life, Dick & Jane was born. "I chose the name Dick & Jane because I wanted something fun, flirty and memorable", notes Jones. "Most importantly I wanted the name to be attractive to women. There are enough places out there that cater to a different audience - Dick & Jane's primary demographic is Women & Couples". With Lingerie being the primary focus of the boutique, the environment screams: "I AM WOMAN...HEAR ME ROAR". Ensuring that female clients felt safe was instrumental in the layout and design of the boutique.
After one year of being open it would appear that Jones' goal was achieved. The boutique has been extremely well received and with plans to open two more stores in the near future Dick & Jane Romance Boutique is turning heads and "creating raving fans" in their customers.
Customer's note that it's more then the selection & pricing that keeps them coming back - "It's the service - 100%" notes Michelle A. (a loyal customer & raving fan of Dick & Jane). "If you haven't yet had the pleasure of being laced into a corset by one of their sales associates - you're totally missing out".
Customers spoke loudly when after only 6 months, Dick & Jane Won 2 Toronto Sun Reader's Choice Awards. Readers rated Dick & Jane Silver in the Adult Novelty category and Bronze for the Best Lingerie. "This was a huge honor, thank you all for your votes. Most of all thank you for making our first year a successful one, we couldn't have done it without you!" concludes Jones.

This Valentine's Day Dick & Jane was thrilled to haveRogers Television come & film a feature segment for TV Show, York Region Living.
The show, which aired multiple times over the week of February 8th - 14th, focused on Romantic Gift Ideas and the hottest items for Valentine's 2009.
We had a huge customer response from this show and the team at Rogers told us that after it aired they were flooded with phone calls.

A tropical-inspired environment set the perfect backdrop for friends and lovers who spent the day dancing to reggae beats, savoring the flavors of a light BBQ and taking advantage of some unbelievable in-store promotions. We didn't let a little rain stop us from having a great time! After all, at Dick & Jane we believe that everything is better when wet...pun totally intended!
Dick & Janers came from Newmarket, Aurora, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Woodbridge and even as far north as Barrie to attend the festivities that day - now that's Loyalty!

The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion Valentine's are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. Interesting to note, the association also estimates that women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines. You have to wonder, do women have more time then men to pick up a card... or are they simply hoping for reciprocation?
Why is it however that we only celebrate our love for one another once a year? Are we all too busy? Finding the time to show our love for one another shouldn't be so difficult.
The issue often seems to stem from the "expectations" and communication amongst lovers relating to this holiday. They seem to get lost in translation; often this is due to what the media suggests is an "appropriate" way to show our love and devotion towards one another

"You would go to the local department store pick up a box of those perforated sheets of cards, make time to sit down, pick out and sign the card that best suited each and every one of your 30 something classmates...best of all, there was that one card...the one that was bigger then the rest - that was the one for your special ‘Valentine'. As adults it seems that we can't even find the time to write even one card, let alone 30. In addition to this, we allow the words to be written by unknown ‘authors' and hope that our loved ones will feel that it is a true reflection of our feelings for them, this, concludes Jones, is why I had to open Dick & Jane".
